Daniel G. Ryson has worked in broadcast engineering and broadcast engineering management since 1976. His Washington based experience includes thirteen years with Cavell Mertz, thirteen years with Infinity Broadcasting/CBS Radio, and six years with the National Broadcasting Company. Before coming to Washington, he was a broadcast engineer for many years in Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. Ryson’s experience includes broadcast facility assessment and improvement (site relocation possibilities, upgrade scenarios, common ownership issues, and coverage improvement scenarios), the preparation of complex technical exhibits for submission to the FCC, and specialization in microwave path and broadcast auxiliary matters. Mr. Ryson participated as a consultant in the MSTV VSB/COFDM Project, a comprehensive investigation of transmission technologies using both laboratory and “real world” testing, which helped shape digital television broadcasting technology. Mr. Ryson also serves as a member of our firm's Information Technology team. In this role, he designed the nationally used FCCInfo.com web-based relational database search engine, the SBE on-line frequency coordination web system (http://freq.sbe.org), and our own Cavell Mertz website.

Mr. Ryson is a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, serves on the SBE National Frequency Coordination Committee, and is a former board member of the Washington, D.C. SBE Chapter.
